Does anyone know about the conditions of the road out to Syria ? My uncle and the wife of my other uncle and her kids have made the rash (and i think silly) decision to leave by the Syria way even though they have Canadian citizenship and are on the embassy list! Their name hasn't been called up but they are in a pretty safe place so far....so does anyone know any information from your family / friends about taking the land route through Syria ?

karen are they still in beirut if yes let them take the road of dhoor shwair/tarsheesh its the only one that left and in good condition since dahr el baidar is destroyed now so they will reach zahle to chtoura and then continue 3al masna3 and they will be at the 7dood with syira then its easy now they are making it easy for people to cross the border so i hope they reach there safe w nshallah kheer tamneene 3annon w tell me if you need any thing and dont blame them ya karen they are in a bad situation there and as you said there is many people on the list to canada so allah a3lam when is their turn ....... this is the route : beirut -dhoor shwair-zahle-chtoura- el masna3(border area)

Thank you Fara, I guess that's exactly what they told my mom a few minutes ago on the phone! my mom was trying to tell them to stay and wait for the canadian boats to take them, but its hard because when you are in lebanon and actually living in the situation, they know more than us...and like you said they are going from the beirut - dhoor shwair road because its the best one so far... they are actually in baabdat right now and a taxi will come take them at 8:00am lebanon time (10 pm here in california) and they will travel to syria and my uncle in egypt is trying to arrange a plane for them from syria to egypt. thanks so much for your help did your dad end up following the rest of your family ?

Yeah starac4 there are several roads to Syria out of Lebanon and many of them were targetted...but I guess the one that Fara described above has been spared for the most part, minus a few detours here and there from bombs. But you are right, I find it too dangerous...I think they should just wait it out...but its hard to be able to convince them while we are so far away!

okay so the latest news about this road that fara and i were describing (for those that have family trying to get out through syria) is that because Te3nayel was hit, its not longer as safe. Families can take the same route but somehow skip Chtoura and that's better...or maybe go through the Tripoli way out.
