uh-oh diddlina.......you don't know what you got yourself into........i can't answer where I am from in a simple way. this is going to be complicated so get ready...... I'm writing from America....technically I'm not arab, I'm Aramean..... not Armenian....sometimes people get these two groups mixed up. We are semites too, just like Arabs and Hebrews, and are the original ancient inhabitants of Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and parts of Turkey and Jordan before the Arab invasion. We are Christian and didn't convert to Islam so we didn't actually mix in with the Arabs. However, we have been living in the Arab culture (and contributing to it!) for 1400 years now so you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. We all speak Arabic and have an almost identical culture and all that. It's a similar situation to that of the Copts in Egypt, except the Copts no longer speak Coptic but many of our people still speak Aramaic (which Jesus spoke) in their homes as well as Arabic and sometimes Turkish, depending on where they live. Anyway, enough history lesson.......haha.......just trying to raise awareness. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ArameansAs for me specifically, my dad is from Palestine but also lived in Egypt for a year and a half in his 20's and I think has been to the Emirites and finally moved to Kuwait where he lived for a long time. My mom's family originally is from southeast Turkey, near the Syrian border, but they are Arameans not Turks as I explained above. They escaped from there when the Turks were killing the Christians in the area around 1915, before my grandmother was born. My mother lived in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and Kuwait. So my parents met and got married in Kuwait and I was born there and lived there till I was 3 and a half and then we moved here 20 years ago. So lucky for me, I understand all the Arabic dialects. Arabic was my first language before we moves to America and English took its place, and learned to read and write Arabic a few years ago. wow, that was long.....hope it answered ur question ;D ;D
