Basel Khoury is a Jordanian musician born on May 11th, 1987 in Amman, Jordan. Music has been both a passion and a major influence for him from a very young age. Basel was raised in a family deeply interested in music. His love for music grew whilst listening to great musicians from years gone by such as Abdul Haleem, Fairuz, Om Kalthoom, Zaki Naseef, Wadee Al Safi etc. In school, Basel caught everybody’s attention with his remarkable talent and his huge passion for music. He was just 6 years old when he first took to the stage, singing in front of the whole school - and it was as if it was something he was born to do!! Basel participated in every event that had anything to do with music. He sings and plays several musical instruments; guitar, drums and percussion and piano. Basel has performed with a significant number of artists from all over the world such as Gypsy Kings, Canteca de Macao, Massari, Tamer Hosni, Mohamed Qwaider, Ayman Zbeeb, Ala' Shaheen and Ziad Borji to name but a few!!In 2005, Basel Khoury and some friends formed the first Jordanian pop band, ‘Vengo Band’. Together they recorded 3 very successful songs: ÓÌä ÇáÄÑÞ , Ôæ ÈÍÈß , ÃÑÏä He has also lent his talents to many local songs, playing guitar in: Fadi Ghasan - Amina Rose il Wir and Ali Khair - Kharej 3an il ma2loof Ala' Shaheen - several songs Vengo Band - sijn al wara2 , baladi o habeebi , sho b7ebek ..As well as being busy with the live scene, Basel Khoury works at Mazaj 95.3 FM, one of the best Jordanian radio stations around, as a DJ and Producer. He is very well known for his great taste in music and is rated as one the best DJs there.When asked about his music, Basel’s reply is: Music works on people subconsciously!! Under its influence I've seen the shy, the sad and the brutal kick off their shoes and dance away their troubles … Let music rule the world!
