im orthodox but my father is catholic but im orthodox and i sometimes go to protestant churchs with my friends

Well as Jackie said we are basicly the same of course and especially chatolics and ortodox....btw I just want to add I m ortodox and we celebrate the christmas 25 dec every year but the easter is a different story lool..there we celebrate with the ortodox coptic and all the other ortodox...anyway I realllllyyy hope that one day we all celebrate the same day and we all be called just christians and not ortodox and protenstant or chatholic....well anyway thats pretty much what I wanted to say  ..take care |

Sofia and Amani fan is right....
i'm orthodox and i celebrate Christmas the same day bas Easter depends on the Julian calander....we also fast longer....other than that, there are no big differences, we have the same Saints, beleive in the same Pope, etc.
Maronites are Catholic or are very similiar to catholic i think they just mean Middle Eastern Catholic bas im not sure..i think there might be small differences

The maronites are the catholics of Lebanese origin, they belong to the catholic church but they pray in arabic like the coptic catholic church is the catholic church of Egypt and the latin church are the churches of Europe and latin america and they are called so because the origin of their languages wether spanish, italian or french is the old latin language but they are all catholic and they have the same pope. |

To add, protestants don't put their faith in saints and the virgin mary the same way catholics do...i went to a lutheran school for most of my life (lutheran is a form of protestantism) and we never referred to the apostles as St. Peter, Paul, etc...they are only the apostles and Mary is the mother of Jesus, she has no other importance like for catholics. Its so confusing though, lol. I'm Melkite Catholic, I go to a Maronite Church, I went to Lutheran and Roman Catholic schools, and I celebrate the holidays according to Roman Catholic (not Orthodox) traditions.

At the time the protestant sect was founded they used to refer to it as the lutheran sect but Martin Luther himself didn't like the title and prefered to call his new founded sect the evangelical and now the sect is called Lutheran Evangelical church. |
