ohh Karen Allah w ywassil your aunt and her kids bil salemé yaaaaaa rab! btw guess what! mart khalé took her kids and went to Egypt .. heik she suddenly decided .. i am not sure if they reached yet, or whether they r still in Syria! inshalla ykoono woslo ya rab! (p.s. she is Egyptian, w khalé aslan wasn't in Lebanon when the thing happened! ye3né he couldn't see his family ) yes Karen please when your dad's aunt and uncle and their daughter in law with her baby arrive bil salemé inshalla, share with us what they have been through Karen.. i STILL don't believe all this is happening... my mind doesn't want to believe..................... katkoot 3anjad its like a terrible dream...It sound so contrived to say this, but I really don't believe its reality. I keep thinking that just a year ago I was in Lebanon having the time of my life. How naive were we to think that peace and relative prosperity could last ? Our country, our people are cursed it seems. And one more thing, it seems that we have IDENTICAL stories. My aunt, the one I talked about above that is fleeing through Syria with her kids, is headed towards Egypt. She lives there with my uncle, who was on a business trip in London when the war in lebanon started. She was in Lebanon visiting her parents with her kids...so just like you, my uncle wasn't able to be with his family during all of this...he had to go from London to their home in Egypt...while my aunt was stuck in Lebanon...

You guys why are you shocked because Qatar has an Isrealian embassy on its land?? Its policy and diplomacy, guys..POLICY and DIPLOMACY..doesnt mean that Qatar is paying Isreal to hit Lebanon and to kill "innocent lebanese children" !! these bombs or whatever were just transiting there not more..and not because Lebanon is having some troubles with Isreal nowadays that all the Arab countries have to close the Isrealian embassies and fire all the Isreali diplomatics and ambassadors!and that those countries that wont do that are traitorous or something ..
anyways, thanks a lot LebaneseQueen for keeping us updated with all these news..it helps a lot wallah especially since I wasnt and I still am not home..keep it up .. and insha2allah everything is gonna come to an end SO SOON ya rab

I just got back from visiting my dad's aunt and uncle, who were some of the American evacuees from Lebanon. They are quite old, so I felt sooo bad for what they had to go through. First, a few days after the war started they kept going back and forth to the embassy and the people at the embassy were SO rude. They'd hang up the phones when people called and they had many guards in front of the embassy to keep people from visiting. All they would say is "if you are on the list, we'll call you." I guess the embassy had to do this because there are about 25000 American citizens in Lebanon! Luckily, their daughter in law (who evacuated with them with her little BABY) works here in california with the daughter of a representative in Congress...so luckily for them (because they are old and were with a baby) they got boosted up on the list. On Thursday, they were called and told to go to the embassy in morning, at 8:00am. They were only allowed to carry bags weighing 15kgs. That's sooo little, as they had come to lebanon expecting to spend 4 months there at their house in Hazmieh! So they got to the Marina (i think it was La Marina Joseph Khoury--some Lebanese will recognize that the Bacardi Night Concert Series is held there, but that's a random sidenote--but I'm not sure if that was the marina they were talking about anyway) and this was at 8:00am and found out that there were more than 4,500 people ALSO going to be evacuating that same day. My grandma said that they only saw 6 porta-potties (you know, like the movable toilets) for all those people to use! and so they stood in line from 8:00am until 6:00pm. They said that the only thing that made the experience bearable were the american marines, whose helpfulness and care they couldn't even describe. The marines passed out more water than anyone could ever use, packaged food products to eat while in line--the kind that marines eat when they have no access to real food, they took care and played with the children, and consoled those that were grieving...they were everything for those who travelled w/ the americans! Anyways, after that long wait, they had to board the USS Nashville. But they could not board on it right away because it couldn't dock close to shore since its so huge...so they had to take dinghies that each fit 1000 people from the Marina and then the dinghy would sail INTO the USS Nashville and people would go from the dinghy into the Nashville! Imagine two 78 year olds doing this! to get into the dinghies was hard for them because they had to cross through some rocky area in the water, so the marines helped them along and carried their daughter-in-law's baby. On the USS Nashville, after the americans got 4500 people on, the families with babies and old people got tents! Imagine, tents ON this boat! Its crazy. And my dads aunt and uncle said that literally there were just people laying everywhere! but again, the marines were there whenever someone even opened his mouth...there was plenty of foood (a full cafeteria that served breakfast lunch and dinner) and blankets for every single person. They marines even took the baby and played with him with the adults rested! It also seems that the trip was very very cold because they were put on the top deck and the blowing wind did not help. Anyways, 7 hours later they got to Cyprus. Imagine, now, at Cyprus...they people there how amazingly nice they were to the 4500 americans getting off the ship. Every person that docked at Cyprus from the USS Nashville was given a sandwich and juice to eat so they can have energy for the rest of the trip. Travel agents helped everyone rearrange their flight and there were even centers for children to play in while adults did paperwork or rested for their next flight. It seems people become so caring in times of need. So I guess for those who have families in Lebanon with American passports, those taking care of this process are doing a rather good job even though they were slow compared to French and Germans in the beginning. I hope with all my heart that Nabooly and his family are evacuating with the Americans in this manner... Apparently, the Canadians are doing an awful job. Since they didn't bring their own warships like the US, their government chartered boats to take the Canadians from Lebanon out (apprx 50,000 are there--correct me if i'm wrong). My mom's cousin and her husband and two kids live in Beit Mery and were told by the lebanese army that a tower there was going to be hit by Israel (It hasn't been yet). They were called up to evacuate with the Canadians since they have citizenship there from a long time ago. From what I heard, the chartered boats are awful and too small to handle the many people that are being loaded on so people are getting sick from the ride and the whole situation seems REALLY awful. Maybe if someone has more info on Canadian evacuations they can share... anyways sorry for the long post, i just wanted to share some information about those interested in how the evacuations are coming about.
