I'd like to open this comment to reactions from supporters of Hezbollah because it's been something I've been thinking about for a while.
Hezbollah has weapons. Everyone knows that. The Lebanese government doesn't have the power to stop them and even if they attempt, they will be labeled as traitors and coordinators with Israel.
The government has had another reason not to react--Hezbollah has pledged that it would never use its weapons against the government.
Today I realized something very important. It doesn't matter if Hezbollah doesn't use its weapons against the gov, because simply the fact that they have them has rendered the government frozen. That's why these protests are taken so much seriously than the March 14th ones. Not because Aoun and Frangieh are standing alongside them, not because March 14 has less followers. No. It is because Hezbollah has weapons and weapons are stronger than any powerful speech made my saniora, any tears shed for Gemayel, any picture of Jumblatt and Geagea standing side by side.
