Hey D, I am glad that you asked. About those that are in the finals, I know that Hadi just turned 19 years old on Saturday (Happy Birthday Hadi!). Hadi is also Syrian (from Damascus), but he stays in Lebanon for his studies. Hossam al Shami - 18; Lebanese (goes to the university with Hadi - which explains their great friendship) Mohamed Daoud - 18; Kuwaiti Brigitte is 16 - the youngest of the group; Lebanese Raneem is 20; Egyptian Ammar is 26; Palestinian Ayman is 22; Libyan Abdel Rahman is 24; Saudi Arabian Mohaned is 24; Syrain Hossam Madeneya is 29; Syrian Abir is 23; Lebanese Mustafa is 18; Egyptian Rania is 27; Emirati Yasmine is 20; Egyptian Zahi is 27; Lebanese Waed is 22; Lebanese Ranine is 22; Lebanese
Oh I just noticed that you know the countries, but the cities I am not sure other than Hadi.

Okay about religions, D, I know that Abir is Christian. I did not know that Brigitte was Christian, but I guess her name, Brigitte, kind of indicated that.
Okay, I have something to raise up with all of you. I noticed that yesterday when they were interviewing Mohaned's uncle from America, he told them that sometimes he and his friends are in a gathering to watch Superstar, and that they have sodas and especially something that I was not fond of: BEER. Was that a joke, or a colloquial term for soda, because as far as I know, most Syrians are Moslem, and Mohaned fits in that category. How could his uncle of the same religion say something like that? I am not mad at him, but I guess that was weird and is a perfect example at how the Arabic people here are in a sense influenced by the Western culture. My sister noticed, but I don't think that deeply into it, that the people were a bit opposing or showed some sense of excitement when he said beer. I did not catch that, but I may be wrong.

LOL, yeah he said he drinks beer, and I was suprised he said that so out loud and frankly...
But frankly speaking, whether u drink beer or alcohol is not an indication of ur religion...A lot of Muslims drink beer and commit adultery, so just because the religion forbids such acts, it doesn't necessarily mean ppl will stop doing it...Especially those who live overseas in a Western and un-Islamic society.
Even here in Egypt ppl drink and act "un-Islamic" and are Muslims...It's sad, but true.

Whoa! This is getting confusing, LOL! Shadi Aswad - drinking? If anyone has recorded whether on a different system or not, I really have to see this. Please! This is really sad if it is coming from Shadi. I mean his family obviously indicates that he is Moslem. Plus, their dad's name is Mohamed - since it is the middle name of both Hadi and Shadi. Sagittarius, when you were saying beer, did you mean Mohaned's uncle or Shadi Aswad. This is terrible. I have to do something - uh, like I can (sarcasm). Yes, I also noticed that Mohaned has a tatoo; I do not know if this indicated religion, but maybe it indicates that he is pretty liberal. This is so weird and I hate finding bad things about presumed good people.
By the way, Hadi and Shadi look a picture of their dad and practically none of their mom. This is weird.
nano, do you mind elaborating on Shadi Aswad and Superstar not saying that he was drinking but said that he was drunk. This is like really significant.

hahaha........this conversation is getting so amusing i am almost forgetting that my car is is at the mechanic's for the 3rd time in 2 weeks............aaaaanywaaaaaay......... 1. yeah i noticed the beer thing too and the mini-uproar in the audience. hahaha. like it's been said, his family is either fairly liberal or christian but probably not since nano's mom said no. and i agree with sagittarius about just because a religion forbids something doesnt mean it's not done. 2 Hadi's parents - the dad seemed ok but the mom was so severe. she didn't smile and even her voice sounded a little mean. maybe she was just having a bad day. and not to sound like a jerk, but you would think she would wear something a little nicer.
