I know English is not the first language for any of these people, but almost no one in the history of Starac had had decent English pronunciation while singing. And on top of that, many of them try to do some strange accent that they think sounds American, and it just makes it worse. Even if the singing is nice, you get so distracted by the way they sing the words.

They don't need to have a perfect American accent to sing properly in English. Actually, I found that it's almost impossible to have a perfect American accent unless you're born in the US and spent many years in it. However, many of the students sang English songs very well even with some accent like Cynthia, Diaa, Tina, Nader, and many others....lol but of course this dude is not among them hehe ;D

Yeah their real accent is fine and acceptable, and there have been people who sounded good like, in addition to the ones you mentioned, Abdullah and Zaher Z. But I just hate when they think they sound better by putting on a fake accent or running all the words together, like this guy is doing.

Exactly!! I know they wanna show how they're "multi-talented" or whatever, but they always make ENGLISH SINGING a priority and arabic is on the side.. it's so annoying! ya3ni they can go weeks and weeks and weeks without nominating the person who doesn't know how to sing arabic just so they can "keep him" for english songs in the prime.. it makes no sense.. english is supposed to be an extra! you don't see them on american idol singing italian or french songs, if they can, then they can, but its not what they're looking for! and bsara7a not everyone understands english and french and spanish or whatever other languages they sing, so getting people who have average voices to sing songs like that while they're not even pro at it themselves just ruins every aspect of the song for me. I remember marra they went 75% of the prime with foreign songs! it was so friggin annoying! and they need to stop turning students into english singers! they're supposed to teach them how to sing ARABIC not how to sing english

I don't know if I fully agree with the "less English, more Arabic" thing. 1) American Idol, nobody sings anything other than English, because it's American Idol, there is a superiority complex regarding the English language. 2) In Spanish talent shows, like Operacion Triunfo, Spanish is priority, but they put an emphasis on popular songs from other languages (English), which provides a good balance. Same with the French shows (especially Star Academie France). 3) Other European shows put every kind of language. Swedish Idol, German Idol, Scandinavian Idol, Turkish Idol, Ukrainian Idol ;D because these countries tend to be "global entertainment" hubs. So were is Arabic Starac in these categories? They don't even cover all aspects of Arabic music unless it's Lebanese or random Egyptian pop. The problem isn't that Arabic Starac focuses too much on English, it's that those who sing English SUCK, they're no better than the people I hear doing karaoke at the dive bars, and yet are held up on this pedestal, and are portrayed as if the primes could never survive without them. If they got people who actually sounded good in English, I'd never complain. And the few who can sing Arabic well only sing jabali and the song choices are repetitive and cliche, zzzzzzzzzz yes in that case I want more English. Sorry, 99% of the students aren't going to have careers anyway so it doesn't matter what language they sing, just please get talented people to actually sing the songs regardless of the language.

It's only to proove to the occidental world that arabic countries aren't terrorist but civilized and educated as them, so stupid, cause they don't need to proove anything as arabic culture is so and greater than the occidental.

Sorry, 99% of the students aren't going to have careers anyway so it doesn't matter what language they sing, just please get talented people to actually sing the songs regardless of the language. We had talented people who sounded good in english and french songs (Diaa, Nader, Cynthia, Sophia, Hany etc...) And I LOVED them, but I HATE that they are not TAUGHT to sing arabic because they are "Safe" knowing to sing foreign languages wi khalas. It's like the academy producers are thinking "at least they have a talent aslan" or something. Like the whole reason LARA stayed till the semi finals is because of her money (obvi ;d) and the fact that she was the only girl who performed in english. even though she SUCKEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD so bad, they didn't care they just thought, at least she knows english. That shouldn't be a reason for someone to stay in the academy. They should ALLLLLLLLL know how to sing arabic THEN excel in another language as well to have as another asset to their talents not a priority. In ukraine, france, etc.. all the "idols" know how to sing their own language first then they show multi sides to them by performing other languages. Plus, arabic culture is soooooo different and so much more unique than french, german etc which is why we don't need to adopt the english culture to display our talents.
