Champions Bayern kept league leaders Bremen within touching distance after an ultimately deserved home triumph against ten-man Frankfurt.
The customary 69,000 full house at the Allianz Arena saw the Reds make a nervous start against coach Friedhelm Funkel's previously undefeated side, but Olli Kahn prevented his side falling into arrears with two breathtaking saves.
Dutch duo Roy Makaay and Mark van Bommel found the target before the half-hour mark and the double winners hit their stride, even allowing themselves the luxury of a Claudio Pizarro penalty miss before half-time.
The Bavarians shifted down a gear after the break and Eintracht briefly rallied, but after Aleksandar Vasoski received his marching orders with 25 minutes remaining the game was effectively over as a contest as the Reds conserved energy ahead of Tuesday's European duties.
The result takes Bayern onto 16 points from nine matches, three off leaders Werder and level with Schalke, although the Royal Blues can move ahead of the Bavarians by avoiding defeat in Stuttgart on Sunday.

The home side initially struggled to prise open their opponents' disciplined defensive line, and the increasingly confident visitors controlled the play for a spell.
Oliver Kahn pulled out two stunning reaction saves to deny Ioannis Amanatidis and Naohiro Takahara in quick succession, but the men from Munich are past masters at taking chances when they come, and Makaay boosted his total for the season to five with a neat finish after Eintracht keeper Oka Nikolov spilled Santa Cruz' 24th minute drive.

The ace striker turned provider five minutes later with a fine run and cut-back for van Bommel to thump home the second, and the midfielder was denied a clear penalty by referee Florian Meyer just 60 seconds later after a foul by Greece defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos.
Daniel van Buyten and Pizarro both came close as the Reds turned the screw, and the Peru goal-getter grabbed the ball for himself after the match official generously adjudged a far more innocuous Kyrgiakos challenge as a foul in the box.
Regular penalty-taker Makaay looked less than delighted, and his demeanour was not improved when Nikolov hurled himself to keep out Pizza's effort.
