a huge bomb explosion in "el mkallis" industrial area,east Beirut, this morning..police report tht deputee Gebran Tweiny was killed  OMG..how long will this crime episode last..GOD save Lebanon & lebanese ppl  |

I dunno him but may he and every other victim rest in peace,, he was one of th most brilliant journalists,general manager of "ennahar" & was elected deputee in last elections;was known for his writings & points of view against syrian troops in beirut(b4 they left) he came back home after abt 2 months spent in paris after he was threatened. |

Di3an shababak ya libnan yes jamjoum, i feel the same way. with the murder of tueni we lost more than a brillant journalist and politician. It is hard for other people to see it the way we do but Tueni was more than a man, he was like a symbol of resistance and he embodied the idea that we don't have to shut up and take whatever is given to us. We can go and demand freedom and demand sovereignty, and in the end we got some semblance of it. It is so smart for these murderers to go after someone with so much symbolism because its more than a death, its the crumbling of resistance against authoritarianism. To all who don't know Gebran Tueni, these words from him on March 14 should give you an idea of the kind of person he was: In the name of God
