One of the worst days for Lebanese. Allah yerhamo. One of the best men we had. Di3an shababak ya libnan yes jamjoum, i feel the same way. with the murder of tueni we lost more than a brillant journalist and politician. It is hard for other people to see it the way we do but Tueni was more than a man, he was like a symbol of resistance and he embodied the idea that we don't have to shut up and take whatever is given to us. We can go and demand freedom and demand sovereignty, and in the end we got some semblance of it. It is so smart for these murderers to go after someone with so much symbolism because its more than a death, its the crumbling of resistance against authoritarianism. I understand what you mean exactly. I don't know much about Gebran but obviously he was someone respected and appreciated... but that is not the point. When someone of his caliber is murdered, it's the values he represents that are targeted. Also, the fact that he was so known puts a human face on the tragedy. His murder is obviously an attempt to confuse and instill fear in people. This reminds me of how in the nineties terrorists in Algeria used to kill anyone who didn't agree with them and even their own allies. A great Algerian journalist and author named Tahar Djaout said: ''Si tu te tais, tu meurs. Si tu parles,tu meurs. Alors, parle et meurs!" If you keep quiet, you die. If you speak, you die. So speak and die." Sadly, he was murdered shortly after he said that. May God bless the souls of Gebran Tweiny, Tahar Djaout and all victims of injustice. Excuse the long post but i felt like saying this.

Excuse the long post but i felt like saying this. Yes Intika, you understand exactly. If you are following up on all of these bombings you will quickly realize what they are intending to do by these killings. They are targeting the faces of resistance, those who use the power of the pen and of speech to cause change. There are many many people (including from my own family) who disagreed with Tueni's politics...but everyone can agree on the impact he's had and everyone can respect him for standing up in a nonviolent way.

Do u want Lebanese people to see each other dying in this way and stay silent without saying anything and the killers did that more than once too.....and who did that shlould be punished who ever he is, but the point is that if the killers are Syrians, only the killers should be punished not all the Syrian people.. and we should think who is getting benefits out of that...in my opinion ...Syria is not getting any benefits out of that instead all the world in this way will be against Syria and the biggest benefits are for Israel ....any way the truth will appear some day
